Intervention Programs/Areas

Gender equality, women Empowerment and Rights

We are strong in advocacy interventions for women and girls’ empowerment and rights including skills and capacity building of women, supporting school-based clubs and promoting girl-child education.

Promoting local and inclusive governance

We are able to mobilize and sensitize citizens especially women, hard-to-reach communities and other vulnerable groups around citizens’ participation in local governance activities to promote transparency and accountability in the local communities, district and regions. We hold advocacy and engagement sessions with duty bearers such as Metropolitan/Municipal District Assemblies (MMDAs) and other agencies to be responsive and accountable to the needs of citizens and other vulnerable groups within the framework of Local Governance Act, 2016, (Act 936) and Popular Participation (P2). Monitoring MMDAs Capital projects and Other State Agencies like Education and Health Services delivery using scorecards, community interfaces, Townhalls, and community radio.

Disability and Mental Health Advocacy

We advocate for inclusiveness and participation of Persons with disability and mental health disability in all aspects of social development. GLOWA is a strong advocate for empowering Disability groups/organizations to be able to engage duty bearers, linking them to access their disability common fund and ensuring disability friendly facilities and services by District Assemblies and other state Agencies especially Department of Social Welfare. We also advocate against discrimination and stigmatization of Persons with disability and mental health disability.

Integrated Health

We also advocate for improved Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of women and girls, improved Maternal and Child health services, STIs and Teenage pregnancy prevention.
